See the 19th century cathedral, stroll along the banks of the River Ness and browse the indoor Victorian Market. This afternoon we go Nessie hunting as make our way along Loch Ness and the Great Glen. We pause for a while at the pretty village of Fort Augustus, to admire the view down Loch Ness and watch the boats sail through and negotiate the impressive canal lock staircase. From here, our route back to the hotel takes us through some stunning scenery as we pass Loch Laggan, where some scenes for the popular BBC series Monarch of the Glen were filmed.
WEDNESDAY: A full day out with some more spectacular scenery as we make our way through the Cairngorms National Park. We pause for a while in Tomintoul, a great example of an 18th century Scottish Highland planned village before passing Well of the Lecht as we make our way to the picturesque Victorian village of Ballater for lunch. From here travel alongside the River Dee through the pretty village of Braemar, famous for its Highland Gathering onto Glenshee, where we pause to take in the views before making our way back to Kingussie and our hotel.
