Your holiday itinerary:
SUNDAY: Completing our pickups we make our way to Dover to complete customs formalities before catching the DFDS ferry across the Channel. Leaving the ferry port of Calais, we travel along the coast past Bruges to Gent and our overnight hotel.
MONDAY: After a leisurely breakfast we cross the border into Germany, passing Koblenz and onto Boppard for our 4-night stay.
TUESDAY: We spend the day exploring the Rhine Valley. Our first visit is to the charming town of St. Goar with views across to the famous Loreley Rock. Following the river and learning about the castles of the Middle Rhine we then catch the ferry from Bingen to Rüdesheim. Take a stroll along the famous Drosselgasse, a lane lined with shops, taverns and restaurants or visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Cabinet, a fascinating museum of automated musical instruments. Leaving Rüdesheim we make our way to the Neiderwald Monument with magnificent views of the river before returning to the hotel.
WEDNESDAY: A full day excursion to the Mosel Valley starting with a stop in Koblenz, to visit German Corner, where the Rhine meets the Mosel. Following the Mosel we then visit the lovely historic town of Cochem, with its narrow cobblestone lanes lined with half-timbered houses with painted decorative front. Returning to Boppard we enjoy a scenic drive over the Hunsruck Hills.
THURSDAY: A day at leisure in Boppard. Relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities, stroll along the Rhine promenade and explore the bustling, historic streets. The hotel has a pleasant terrace alongside the river where you can relax, enjoy drinks and watch the barges and river cruises go by.
FRIDAY: Sadly, we must bid auf wiedersehen to Boppard and make our way back to our overnight stay in Gent. Along the way we visit Monschau, a small historic town in the German Eifel region. There is something fairytale about strolling through the village, it is as though time has stood still, with romantic lanes, beautiful timbered houses, and medieval walls.
SATURDAY: Leaving Gent we retrace our route back to Calais where we complete customs formalities before catching the DFDS ferry back to Dover. Once back across the Channel we make our way back to Essex, arriving early evening. health & fitness centre and free WiFi.
Now in its 4th generation of family management, The Bellevue Rheinhotel, is a charming, traditional 4-star hotel located in an excellent position directly on the riverfront in the centre of Boppard, and only a short walk from the pedestrian area. There are family portraits, mementoes and furniture from previous generations throughout the hotel. Amongst its many facilities the hotel has a modern spa with indoor swimming pool and atmospheric wine cellar, where we enjoy an included wine tasting. Additionally, the hotel has a cosy bar, lounge, several dining areas, free WiFi and a lift. The bedrooms are well appointed and are equipped to a high standard with private facilities with bath or shower, television and radio.
The 4-star Hotel Holiday Inn Gent Expo is a modern and very stylish hotel situated on the edge of the city of Gent. All the bedrooms are well appointed with television telephone, minibar (charges apply), tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and private facilities. All single rooms are twin/doubles for sole occupancy. The hotel has a lift to all floors, restaurant, bar as well as sauna, health & fitness centre and free WiFi.
Single Supplement: £158 (maximum of 6)

1) For this holiday you will require a full 10-year passport that will be valid for at least 6 months on return and that it is signed. EES & ETIAS may be in operation by the time of the departure of this holiday. Please ensure you are familiar with these systems. For more information see the section ‘Do I need a Passport?’ in the Terms of Business. We respectfully remind you that it is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct documentation for travel.
2) Those with restricted mobility should be aware that there are gentle slopes from the Rheinhotel to some areas of Boppard and that there are a few steps from the pavement into the hotel entrance as well as a few steps in other areas of the hotel.
3) Please note that at the Holiday Inn there may be some walking involved from the bedrooms to the public areas.
4) Many of the towns we visit on this holiday, due to their historic nature have cobbled surfaces.
5) The currency required on this holiday will be the Euro.
