Your holiday itinerary:
MONDAY: Using the motorway network, we make our way to South Wales. With suitable stops along the way we arrive at our hotel later afternoon.
TUESDAY: After breakfast we make our way to Tenby, known for a warm atmosphere and fine Victorian houses. Take time to experience the friendly harbour, relax and unwind on one of the three fantastic beaches or simply sit and people watch. For the more adventurous, why not take the twenty-minute boat journey to Caldy Island, owned and run by a community of Cistercian monks. (Crossing is subject to weather conditions and additional cost applies, paid locally).
WEDNESDAY: Today we enjoy two stunning gardens here in South Wales. We begin the day at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. Nestled in the Tywi Valley, the garden is home to an inspiring range of themed gardens with more than 8,000 different plant varieties, one of the world’s largest single-span glasshouses, the British Bird of Prey Centre and a national nature reserve; plus a historic parkland landscape of over 500 acres. This afternoon we travel further up the Tywi Valley and visit Aberglasney Gardens. Explore 10 acres of over 20 different garden styles from formal to woodland, right through to exotic and modern. At its heart lies a fully restored Elizabethan Cloister Garden that is the only surviving example of its kind in the UK today. One of Aberglasney’s hidden gems is the Ninfarium, a unique garden created within the ruinous central walls and courtyard of the mansion, with its pools, parapets, cloisters and arches. Discover the rare and unusual plants that are turning the rest of the garden into a plantsman’s paradise. The ground floor of the historic grade II listed mansion hosts regular arts and crafts exhibitions.
THURSDAY: This morning, we enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Gower Peninsula & The Mumbles. We visit the Gower Heritage Centre in a converted water mill where a guide will join us for a tour of the peninsula’s highlight’s before returning for a Vintage Tea (tea/coffee, Bara Birth and Welsh Cake) and time to have a look around the mill.
FRIDAY: Leaving our hotel after breakfast we begin our homeward journey. With suitable stops along the way we aim to be back in Essex late afternoon
